MELANIE WILLIAMS ORAM

BIO

Melanie teaches at Borough Manhattan Community College as a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Media Arts & Technology Department.

While at HBO Sports, Melanie earned an Emmy (Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel) and a Peabody (Dare to Compete: The Struggle of Women in Sports)Under the Bajan Brownstone Productions banner, she wrote and directed SHOOK a short film that aired on Showtime and won several festival awards.  Currently she is working on a documentary called Run like a G.U.R.L. (Galvanized Unapologetic Real Leader) female politicians who persist with the assistance of grassroots activists in the face of extraordinary barriers.

Melanie earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude from Harvard University and a MFA from Columbia University -School of the Arts -Filmmaking Division.

Melanie enjoys the mentoring she does with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and lives with her husband in Harlem.

CANDICE L. CARNAGE

BIO

At National Recreation and Parks Association, Candice L. Carnage has leveraged her love for numbers and problem solving into the Chief Operating and Financial Officer role for the leading non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of public parks, recreation, and conservation. She is a versatile, high-energy executive with over 25 years non-profit experience who leads organizations through change and challenge to support their mission, including The Bronx Defenders, The Innocence Project, Ms. Foundation for Women and Amnesty International, USA. Her additional background with Deloitte and Touché and Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment after graduating from Columbia Business School solidify her background as a music lover who is also an accountant.

MAIYSHA WARREN

BIO

A member of the VTF Board since 2016, Maiysha is Board Secretary.

Maiysha has a B.S. in Business from Cornell University and a M.S. in Sports Business from Manhattanville College.  She is a Business Development Associate at Greywolf Capital and former Director of Market Development at the United States Tennis Association Foundation.

 Maiysha is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Westchester Alumnae Chapter, Jack & Jill of America’s Westchester Chapter, United Nations Association Westchester Chapter, Cornell Black Alumni Association, and Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network.  She is a Leadership Westchester alumnus and former Board member of the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester.

Maiysha resides in Mt Vernon, NY with her husband, daughter and son.

Tanya Guzmán brings top notch experience as an entertainment industry vet. She is extraordinary at leading contract negotiations as VP of Business & Legal Affairs at Paramount Media Networks for MTV Entertainment Group’s tentpoles, specials, documentary feature films and series development. Tanya works closely with the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Legal Development subcommittee to discover and preserve the best talent.  She holds a philanthropic track record and is commended for her humanitarian spirit. Tanya is a mom of 5, Girl Scouts Troop Leader, lover of basketball, and a native of the Bronx who currently resides in Westchester County with her family.

Sandra has a B.A. from Central State University (OH) in Political Science.  She is a Principal with Apollo Management Holdings Inc, where she is the Global Head of Payroll.

Sandra believes in giving back to her community. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Westchester Alumnae Chapter, where she serves as a Tri-Chair of the Health & Wellness Committee, current member of the Central State University Alumni Assoc., as well as serves as the current Treasurer of the Woodlands Middle High School PTSA. Sandra also serves as Co-Chair of MOSAIC, an employee led affinity network charged with promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at her firm. In her free time, she enjoys exercise, travel, attending music festivals and playing golf.

CHARLENE L. GAIREY

Charlene Gairey served as the first President of Violet Torch Foundation (d/b/a Westchester Deltas,Inc.) and has served as a Director for several years.

Charlene is the Benefits Lead at Samsung Electronics America where she manages all Health and Wellness and Retirement Plans. At Samsung she serves on the North America Regional Benefits Advisory Committee, the DE&I Advisory Committee and is a member of the Galaxy of Black Professionals ERG where she served on the National Executive Board.

Charlene is a Westchester County native and lends her skills and services to the community as Coordinator of the Annual Westchester County African American Heritage Festival; 2nd Vice President, White Plains/Greenburgh NAACP; Treasurer, Empire City MOLES; and Chair, Charitable Partnerships CommitteeforDelta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Westchester Alumnae Chapter.

In her free time, Charlene enjoys photography, piano, roller skating, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

At UBS, DawnMarie leads DE&I for Field Engagement, WM USA, raising visibility of DE&I within WM USA, supporting the FAAC, creating and expanding internal and external partnerships and internal collaboration aligning with our DE&I strategy of hire, develop, belong and accountability. DawnMarie has 25+ years of experience in the financial services industry having previously served as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch, a regional and area sales manager in retail and small business banking, lead diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) at a firm as well, not to mention community engagement & development.  DawnMarie also led credit to capital. DawnMarie believes it’s important to “meet people where they’re at” and that inclusivity matters! Everyone should be able to come to work as their true authentic selves.

Shona Pinnock is a DEI and Human Resources professional bringing more than 20 years of experience in various industries, including Media, Publishing, Real Estate/Property Management, and Legal. In her current role as Vice President, Diversity and Inclusion for Louis Vuitton Americas she is responsible for building and implementing a Diversity and Inclusion strategy aligned with company goals and transferable to all areas within the Americas.

She’s previously led Diversity and Inclusion efforts at Meredith Corporationand Consumer Reports where they were honored by Digiday as an organization “Most Committed to Diversity and Inclusion”. Her strategies include focused diverse talent acquisition strategies, leveraging affinity groups as a resource to the business, and ensuring the cultural competency of the organization.

As a DEI and HR professional she uses a practical and systematic approach to solving organizational challenges. She believes that organizations thrive when they support the development of the individual. Weaving the concepts of diversity, equity and inclusion, she helps develop leaders to integrate effective people management skills throughout the organizations she supports.

Shona is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. She is a true believer in the adage “service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth”, she is an active member of the Westchester Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. The Westchester (NY) Chapter of The Links Incorporated. She is also a member of the Girls Justice Court Initiative, Board of Directors of Coney Island Prep School, Chelsea’s Charity, Sister to Sister International and The Violet Torch Foundation.

Shaneyle has been a member the Violet Torch Board of Directors since 2015.

Shaneyle has a B.S. in Business Administration and a MS in Public Administration from University of Missouri.  She is currently the Field Training Manager at Janssen Neuroscience, a Johnson and Johnson company.

Shaneyle continues to serve her community through her various commitments.  She serves on the board for HCYS, Inc as the Immediate Past President and has been a Girl Scout Troop leader for the past 7 years.  She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and served as a charter member for her area’s National Sales Network chapter.

Felecia Webb is Chief Development Officer, responsible for leading the revenue strategies for NPower, anational nonprofit that provides free techtraining for underserved and underrepresented communities.She has worked across diverse policy areas,including arts and culture, HIV/AIDS, workforce, and youthdevelopment. Prior to the nonprofit sector, Felecia led corporate philanthropy initiatives including causemarketing, employee volunteerism, and broadened diversity and inclusion policies through communityrelations.

Felecia earned a Fine Arts degree from Parsons School of Design and a Masters of Public Policy andAdministration from New York University. As a passionate community advocate, she is an alum of variousleadership cohorts; serves as a board member and advisory council member for various nonprofitorganizations; and an active member of The Links Incorporated and Delta Sigma Theta SororityIncorporated.
